Difference – A Poem

sky-1107952_960_720 (1)

I am the difference

In the middle of a storm

I stand unmoving

I am the difference

When others are immobilized by fear

or tradition

I am unafraid

Walking past the mirror

I like what I see

I am a gift from my ancestors

A present to the generations

Redefining the roles

Crushing the stereotypes

I am the difference.

You are the difference

When darkness falls

You are the beacon of hope

You are the difference

Illuminate your talents

No one can do it but you

You can shine without fear

Look in the mirror

Can you envision what I see

You are a dream revealed

A prayer’s resolution

Refining the roles

Crushing the stereotypes

You are the difference.

What I Know For Sure

doctors

One thing I know for sure……. The older you get, the more doctors you see.  I’ve gone from one general practitioner and an OB/GYN to adding an allergist and now a chiropractor.

Getting older is fun.  You get to meet so many new people.

MLK Day – 2017

Going into this new year of uncertainty, I am reminded that King’s dream is still far away.  This means that we have work to do.  I think the months and years ahead can be summed up in the words of Frederick Douglas,

“Power concedes nothing without a demand.  It never did and it never will.  If there is no struggle, there is no progress.”

Keep fighting, people.

Because Editing Is Hard

Here’s a little something that made my day better.

Here’s How to Finish Your Revision by Chuck Wendig

A New Beginning

2017 is the year I will make my dream come true. The book is being edited and I’m taking writing classes to get better. Even got a cover made for the book. What do you think?
